We are proud to Support the Illinois Coalition for Independent Work to make the voices of app-based workers heard and to advocate for a new way in Illinois.”
App-based drivers choose independent work because of the flexibility and independence it offers. Work/Life balance is crucial for these workers who are able to take care of their families, fund educational costs or save money for home improvements or vacations. With the COVID-19 pandemic, many workers turned to independent work to supplement existing employment. For many, these workers saw their jobs eliminated or reduced during the pandemic. The ability to supplement their income through independent work has taken on greater importance. According to the Illinois Coalition for Independent Work, 90 percent of app based workers in Illinois work less than 15 hours a week.

The Illinois Coalition for Independent Work is urging policymakers to find legislative solutions that allow app based workers to maintain their independence and flexibility while also providing access to benefits.
